Garth Brooks Signs Music Deal With Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN)

Country music legend Garth Brooks has signed a music deal with Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) after years of being with opposing music streaming services.

Brooks is the latest artist to sign a music deal with Amazon. The deal took place on Thursday and it will facilitate the presence of some of Brooks’ music titles on the company’s new music streaming platform. The service will make music content available for on-demand streaming, as well as digital downloads. The deal is vital for Amazon in terms of reaching out to country music fans. Amazon hopes that Brooks’ success and influence will attract more subscribers onto the music streaming platform.

“It is a joy to work with a company that is all about the customer when it comes to service, and all about the music and its creators when it comes to the music. I applaud Amazon on their commitment to quality and thank them for this opportunity,” said Brooks.

The timing of the deal is also ideal because it lines up with the launch of the service last week. Brooks has been in the music industry for decades and his music career is said to have peaked about 20 years ago. Despite this, his music still makes airwaves and he is still a big star. Amazon decided to take advantage of this. One of the reasons is that Brooks is the only musician to make more sales than the Beatles. The presence of his music on the platform is also expected to attract older fans to the music streaming service.

“This is a landmark moment for both Amazon Music and Garth Brooks. He is a legendary country music superstar who continues to shatter industry records and amaze fans three decades into his career. We are honored to make his music available for streaming for the first time ever, exclusively on Amazon Music,” stated Amazon Music vice president Steve Boom.

Apart from royalties, Brooks will also benefit from other deals. Amazon Music will also be his official sponsor for his tour.

Amazon stock closed the latest trading session at $810.32.
